It was about following certain procedures and taking certain things into account when performing our administrative duties. Whether one makes better maps than the other is irrelevant for what we discussed. I am sorry that you have understood otherwise. Because of the above your competition, the way it is phrased lacks a rationale. Additionally, I resent the way you just put us "on the spot" without even having the courtesy of sending us at least a PM. It is really unfortunate and negative that you chose to structure your competition this way. Because of this I am strongly inclined to decline to participate. | Lancet the idea behind this competition imo is just to change the focus from mappers telling eachother who sucks at life more, to making maps again. It creates a very competitive edge though, which should result in good maps. Also, putting the spotlight on mappers puts more pressure on them to actually make a map, in most competitions you'll get a dozen people who say they'll make a map, and then never get around to it. You get made fun of if you "don't get around to it" in this competition :D I like the idea of the competition. I think it's a horrible way of settling issues, but a great way to make people talk less shit and map more; this is a mapping site, not a shit-talking site. Broodwarmappersshittalk.net for that~ |

So Nightmarjoo, I am willing to accept the challenge (even though "normal" maps are not my strong point) as long as it is understood that the outcome of the competition has no bearing whatsoever on the issues we discussed. | You know Starparty, it's rather slow to have 2 people "duel" at a time, why don't you do simultaneous competitions in a "bracket" format. So, for example, if you have mappers A, B, C and D then it would be first A vs B and C vs D, and then the winner of A vs B against the winner of C vs D. I think this would be better. You could start other people now and then whoever wins in this one (Nightmarjoo or me) would catch up to them later. |

I'm taking what I'd started of my 2v2 map for templar's competition (just the mains, removing everything else, but I think the mains are well-made) to retry the map. I hate mapping. |

I assure you making this map alone took more than fourty five minutes, not including all the time I spent making other versions of the map and starting over, to try and get better rotational symmetry balance. I was definitely rushed to get it done, but it took several hours anyway, and it's not like I'm not going to work on the map more over time -.- Try looking at the map itself, its concept, and its playability and not at the execution; not like I've ever said I was a good mapper lol. Also, the lack of practice with mapping certainly doesn't help -.- |

Faoi dheireadh is playable and looks okay ingame, for those who already voted, please download both maps and don't just look at the pic. | Testbug really, you are entittled to your opinion, if you don't like my map that's OK, but you wrote here: "mineral formations are anoying (EVERYWHERE)" whereas in the Shrine of Kelehmar map thread you wrote: "wow! nice mineral formations! specially the nat's formations. mineral will be mined A LOT faster" I don't mean this in a nasty way but please do try to keep track of what you write and be consistent. As to the playability of the map I played about a dozen times against the comp (I always do this with all my maps) to fix major problems. If you have detected some major problem playing the map please upload the rep and I will do my best to fix it. Thanks. |
