yeah but by "forcing" people to test their maps bugs can be found and corrected. Also you get a little overview about the balance of the map.

but I think we should just forget the idea. The inactive mappers would be fucked up and there are many inactive mappers here.
(I mean inactive mappers as mappers that don't play BW anymore or not very often)

i dont support widened bridges or inverted ramps, so i'd at least expect people to make there stupid special things correctly, so the bridges were something that can be overlooked.

the islands, everyone knew was fucked up, just nobody changed it.

The fucked up bridges on Artist would have been spotted easily if someone had taken the time to open it in SCMDraft2 and check them.
Dunno what was wrong with the islands. Would you mind telling me?
And the pvz imbalance on Artist could by no means have been found with 10-20 replays. Even if those replays were 6-14 p
Of course if we had had like 1000 games on Artist before it was to become MOTS, it would have become clear. But that's ridiculous.

@night: If you are a gosu, you play toss, tech to MC, take a peon of you opponent and battle it out against yourself ;)

I stand corrected. It's not hard to get reps of your map. I made a game titled I am afk for the purpose of being afk, when I came back someone was dling the map so I played him for the hell of it and got a really poor rep. It shows nothing. I uploaded it for the same reason as I played the guy.

hm why do i always fall back into arguing with lnept...kinda sensless, but he is screaming for it 8(

bottom line is that no1 will watch the reps submitted and we all can argue about it all we want but its true that they wont be watched.. we can put as much time as we can into getting ppl to play them wen actually tge bottom line is that the only time we'll ever watch them is if there are 'gosu' playing on them.. which is bullshit but everyone seems to think like they will make a bigger impact on how they (maps) will play which isnt wat we are looking for yet. So we really shouldnt be making a big fuss about this now, since we never pushed the issue before.. All we have done for the most part is theory craft about how the maps will play.. though there have been some mappers that have efficiently tested their maps, but not as much as we should have. Going about changing this is by finally setting up a channel where is MANDATORY to test MOTW canidates.. this is fair and its a sure way to prove the maps are good enuff before having a MOTW crown.

like it was said before:

op bwmn

thats a pefect name for a channel to meet up at... and this is perfect to our test maps.. this way we can promote the channel at gg.net and pgtour.net.. i can make newsposts at each site.. also with the avaton tournies we'll get more recongition which is perfect

with that said, everyone name the times u can test the maps each weak at "op bwmm"

This is just my humble opinion but i must say that this is the best and efficient way to fix our little problem here

Now finally it becomes reasonable ;)

I totally agree. Maps need to be tested, of course. But a set amount of replays doesn't do anything.
Especially if those replays say nothing about the map.

So, lets get that op bwmn going again - it must have drowned somewhere... - because once a map get popular among test players, we know that map is a tough MOTW candidate.

But setting up strict rules is useless, we are intelligent enough to handle this without such a 10-replays-requirement (at least I am, dunno about you ;) ).

I guess I'll play gravedigger and unburrow that thread about op bwmn...

Uh, no, I rather create a new thread, the old one was about "clan BWMN", actually ;)

Replays are proof that you tested them. Only submit the good ones and every1 is happy. Perhaps 5 req?

thats not necesarry for a mandatory amount of reps.. we'll all know who is testing what if we get "op bwmn" 'running'.

so again.. please, all of u post times u are available to play/test the maps each week.

no pants, define good. Two players could try their absolute best and have a great long back and forth game, but because they are weak players the rep is considered abad rep. So discriminate against players who have not put as much practice into playing the game, or who are just not talented.

regardless of how good the players are, replays are replays.. they will show the maps flow and any 'general' errors that need to be fixed (pathfinding etc).. u all are thinking in the right direction, but also u all are lookin into "testing" for the most part the rong way.. I think i mite have mentioned above that we dont need gosu players on them (tho it is a plus) but in general that just means, u know a good player, not necesssarilly that it plays well.. i hope u all understand that... We are testing for playability not on how good players can play it..

We shouldnt worry right off the bat how gosu players will play it, although a higher level of skill could make the map more intersting (for all the wrong reasons mite I add) and although that this site's aim is to get more amatuer mappers a MOTS spot at PGTour, we shouldnt be worried right off the bat how certain players will play them.
For the most part, we'll leave that up to the better executed maps (which we usually know in general which ones they are)

lol did you watch the rep I posted on transposition most recently? That shows *nothing*.

Good = shows aspects of map, the weaknesses and the strengths. Pathfinding, confort, and other such things will be shown (well, with confort u will have to ask the players). Doesnt need to be a pro replay, just one that shows how the map plays.

Bad = bad or very inexperienced playing, screwing around, comps

i agree, every midskilled player can expose striking weaknesses of a map. within our small community, we cant really test maps appropriate anyway, so basic/general "does the map work out?" testing is still a very nice thing.

i made maps myself which didnt have a flaw on the pic, but after 2-3 games i could track down some striking mistakes. correcting those is the best part of a map

The more reps, the more info you can make decision uppon. But a set number wont do anything good. And again, everyone who votes for a map, must see the replays.. Are you prepared to do that? :P
