STIMEY D OKGM FISH
This is the current version of my micro map vs computer for 4 players that I'm working on.

It's significantly different than your typical 4 player micro vs computer maps:
-Some of the micro you do, while maybe not that high level, is pretty true-to-game. It's not all about AI abuse. It's about basic micro, but it is difficult for some people.
-Players can play or watch at any time (using an infested terran to decide when you want to start your next round)
-Time limits on rounds so you must play them straight up and not AI-abuse style (although I've laxed the time limits to allow gay AI abuse due to requests/complaints of testers).
-The game structure is significantly different in other ways too (see below)
-There are way less triggers and they're way easier to edit. The map uses only one location, and it's 64x64 so it downloads for others faster.

Now onto what's different in this compared to version 0.32 (the last version) and 0.33 (the harder sequel):
-No longer will you have to play the same level over and over until you beat it. Now, levels are set up into groups. You must win 2 out of 5 from group 1 (missile micro), 2 out of 5 from group 2 (melee micro), and then 3 out of 5 from group 3 (hard levels revisited, to prove you didn't get lucky). And you must do this before your 500 minerals run out.
-Some of the levels are new, and the most annoying and least credible one (marine/scv vs ling) has been removed.
-There are now more text notifications to tell people how it works and what they should be doing.

It's based around melee players' skills, not Use Map Settings players.

The point of the map is to teach or test basic (but challenging) melee micro. It's not an RPG or capture the flag.

Maybe you could make a micro section completely seperate from the melee section because there are people who want to play these and they aren't on every map site..

Also keep in mind it is intended for battle.net play, not offline LAN play (where it is too easy).

a good new category might be "training maps"

although while we're talking about categories, i think you should organize them this way:

1. amature (never been used in competitions) (replaces "user-final" -- add 1a. "unfinished amature", replacing "under construction")

2. semi-pro (used in competitions but not big pro-like ones, like was used in wgtour, maybe the korean leagues that suck) (replaces "classic" with a more useful category)

3. pro (wcg + the good korean leagues)

4. experimental (maps not intended for amature/future semi-pro like status), maybe rename it something more broad

5. training maps (less important, as this could fit in "experimental" if you make the name more broad, UMS maps made with the interests of melee players in mind)

6. retired pro maps (maps that were considered pro but have since been all but retired, i.e. valhalla, jungle story, etc.) ("also replaces classic")

OK--MAJOR UPDATE (coinciding with the name change, but not version change, since this is just still "unfinished" 0.40)

TANKS LEVEL FIXED. I redid the terrain so that the tank level is beatable from all positions. major previous flaw.

TIME LIMITS. I set them harder again. They're all beatable.

HARDER LEVELS. Some levels are set harder, but again, all beatable. for instance, the hydralisk and SCV count has been reduced. the zerglings vs zeal/probe slightly. other changes as well.

300 ore time limit: i haven't beaten it in this amount of time, but i did beat it in barely over this, losing a lot and only beating the beatable levels. so anything less wouldn't be a challenge.
