About this map...looks kinda like (4) Tau Cross? I was pretty bad at mapping back when I made this...
Looking to improve this map so I get used to mapping again, any suggestions?
One of my early failed attempts at rotational symmetry modified by traceurling | NegativeZero | | | -Map overall is very tight - delete the middle expo and combine the double bridges to the center to single large bridges (basically just fill in the gaps between them)
-Mains are pretty ridiculously large, especially if you remove the wasted space in the corners. You should add some high-ground cliff "holes" on the inside of the mains so tanks positioned inside the main can't hit the entire outside pathway. Also remove the unnecessary cliffs in the corners of the main - zergs could probably just camp there with mutas and run in and snipe workers over and over.
-3rd gas for Z might be difficult since there are no bases with ramps or narrow chokes. Not sure what could be done about this - you could try adding a narrow choke to the gas bases adjacent to the mains. | JungleTerrain | | | Agree with NegativeZero on the mains. Also agree on the thirds, although you could probably reduce the chokes very easily.
The naturals need to be reworked to make sure that the natural choke can cover the entrance to the main. This is to prevent run-bys.
The symmetry is actually not that bad, I think.
The middle is pretty tight, though. If you took care of the mains' sizes, this would give you more space to work with the middle.
