NOTES:

-Overview

I spent quite a lot of thought on this one and spent about 2.75 hours on it. There is a lack of walkables because...twilight doesnt have any

-Balancing

Just so everyone knows I know that the choked expo can be tanked/dropped but that is the point...its a one way tankable meaning the one controlling the lower expo cannot tank the higher one (I did test this)

-Unfinished

Nothing

-Decoration

Nothing special about decoration, other than for people that dont know CREVICES IS UNBUILDABLE, I hope everyone knew that already though.

-Need Help

As always this is beta any suggestions would help...

The choke in reds main is fucked up. You should open it up a lil bit. Make the min only expos and island expo with gas and put a blocking mineral stone there. Also you have a lot of space, that isn't used.

lol...its my second time trying out the non-symetrical ramping outta the choke (the only reason im doing this is because I hate those non-symetrical ones.

Believe it or not my original plan was to have an island gas expo there...i changed it to a choked gas expo, then to a min-only expo, im gonna fix-er-up now

Sloppy random layout imo, I usually don't, but drawing out maps before you make them is a good idea. Then consider the spacing, and distances and sizes and then each mu.

I have never drawn a map out...I just cant do it. They always turn out 20x as bad.

-Made the main-tankable non-nat expo an island
-added gas to the new island expo
-gave reds choke more room

Doesn't the fact that 1/3rd of the map is unused ring bells in your head that something might be wrong?

The mains are small and awkwardly shaped. Use an invert.

Use the rest of the map and redo everything past the main. Although redoing the main and nat wouldn't hurt.

So much unused space? Dude, open your mind. Why you are still making maps with no ideas about concept, etc, etc... Instead of spending 10 hours in making many unnessery maps, take a look in the BWMN DB.

Example:

"Hm... What to do now? A jungle map with natural buildings, spells or a standard and balance four players map with more dynamic gameplay? Maybe i should check all the 4 players jungle maps in BWMN and gather some ideas and put them into one, because my brain can't think of something new, and i am just losing my time in making chobo maps :P"

Basicly, you're at the point where you're starting to figure out the start of basics in mapping. Look at my map (4)Dune Sea, I think you're about where I was when I made that map. LGI was nice enough at the time to point me to the article database here, which I wasn't aware of. idk if you've read the articles, but I strongly suggest reading and rereading them, for the basics, they are a good start. Then, look through the forum for balance threads, or make a new balance thread or something so you can learn basic balance. Then open up one of your maps in sc and compare it ingame to a more accepted map, and see the differences. Then correct your mapping by taking a longer time to make your maps, including basic testing, which can be done with comps.

improving is ALWAYS up to YOU, not to us. it's YOU who needs to put effort in it and work on yourself, not us.

Yea im improving at actual SC now and have learned I am way more effective with terran, hopefully I will see whats wrong w/ my maps.

seriously deathman: if you have this little knowledge of broodwar (like, basic strategy, counterunits, etc) you shouldnt even think of mapping. you need to know the basics and balance of each matchup to create maps. judging from your posts, you are miles away from the point you can start mapping with.

You could make this a 96x96 map with all the space you are leaving out, but interesting concept (maybe good for air wars). The proximity of the expos to the main may encourage turtling.
