296, Ebullition:
somewhat a for-the-look-map, but nevertheless cool. i dont know if the expo layout works out, but the "backyard" minonly is _very_ interesting, and this natural->gasexp->minonly setup is well integrated into this map. i wonder whcih role drops will play in this map, as it probably makes a good counterweight to a fast 3rd gas. likey likey.

666, Satterchasm
awesome map, nuff said. played it a few times back then, has an incredible flow and iirc a very decent balancing. you instantly feel comfortable when playing it (although this might come due to being very standard). excellent execution with some small features. likey likey.


684, Undiscovered System
It just strikes me that i always wanted to play this but never actually did. from the layout, one of the best maps around. various route options without being cramped. the only thing that (imo) could be done better are these cornerislands, i think they favor turteling a bit which this map doesnt need. i never like mainbase-near islands, though. i need to play this. likey, likey.

700, Naruto
"nice looking" but imo gameplay-flawed. it seems to tight for this terrain structure. my bet is that PvT either you win in the beginning because the downwards ramp is hell for terran, or you lose because a strong push is unstoppable (havent seen how wide the paths are ingame, though). the expo layout is too straight for my taste.

701, Asguard
the map has some cool features, i esp. like this natural-2ndgas on highground setup. it alters the gameplay, dunno if it isnt too turtelisque. apart from that, i dont like the minonly and the island near the ice. they're both securable from above for a terran, even if terran tanks are in low numbers in the beginning (1gas). but once terran moves out his base, i think it is hard to stop - t can even wall his natural ramp (esp. on bottom pos). center gasexpos _might_ get into the way of units.

755, space lotus
i'll never understand how he came to this concept (all comments without having played it now). seems a bit "on-the-edge" balancewise. the main setup is weird but should work. the expo layout and its integration into the map is good. i dont know how second-exp-mechanics work on this map, it may be a problem. the cliff behind the natural may be deadly, but only if you're not prepared, so i dont know if this screws the map. it surely features some unusal tactics (slowlurkdrop) but as said, it is somehow on the edge for me - looks unusal, could work, could not. i have to be very vague cause i didnt play it and it seems hard to approach for theorycraft. likey likey, though. i will play this...

784, snitch
oh, controversy map. this may be biased by me not liking the author but although it is a decent map, it lacks good gameplay. it is different, not necessarily imbalanced but still no big hit. from these characteristics a bit like python to me, which means i would play it without hesitating and stuff, but there is still a lack of good flow. the minonly as 2nd exp is untakeable in some MUs (TvP, PvZ) so everything will rely on the islands and this is where it gets complicated. it can lead to awesome hardcore dropbattles, or to instant loss (PvT). i think a neighbour-terran is quite strong with this close deadly and rich (expo)cliff, a crosspos-terran will have two islands quite close to expo (pvt; in ZvT this may become interesting) so he will have masses of units soon but no terrain to get an advantage of. dont really know if i like it, i'd need to play it to feel the gameflow.

I played Naruto with Nasty a while back, it was one of the more liked maps in the twilight map motw competition. It's actually more open than you'd think from the pic, but there still might be issues with pvt =/

arena is even better 2on2 map imo. Best 2on2 map ever (I'm very serious :D)

Anyway, please test your obs versions before making anything final, failing there would be ugly :/

Yello-Ant will have Naruto, Kumba, Illusion, and Undiscovered System tested by B gamers.

He said he loves sattarchasm, but it's not new. He said he though Ebullition woul need too much work to be good. Asgard had too many expos for a (2)map and distances were too long. Space Lotus he felt would be too much of a drop map / t favouring because of so many cliffs; he said protoss would cry like they do in lt. I didn't show him Snitch.

I dunno why I showed him kumba, but it seemed like a decently solid/simple (2)map. He prefers (4)though.
Dunno why I picked Illusion, but it's a neat map, and he seemed to sorta like it.
