basically what i think about us, iccup and retard admin:
we have the chance to sell some maps to the community easily and massively - but we're seling us, our site and our skill FAR below value.

i dont think we should make ourselves whores and make a map for this stupid fucker- we should act seriously and like professionals: we show them the best maps, TELL him those ARE great and if he refuses, it is his loss, not ours. we could also gather professional statements (of well known gamers like mireille) on those maps to fortify our point.
either he takes the best, or he doesnt get anything because we sell only the best products.

just tell me a map (pro, korean, bwmn) that is actually decent in your eyes. chances are, there is no perfect map, and you can always find flaws if you are looking for them. mostly because you can always turn map aspects into a flaw.

Of course there is no perfect map. There are faults in virtually every map, but more flaws in some than in others.

panschk got it right when he said gameplay > balance in the end. Your looking for new ways for players to play - thusly the map dictates play styles etc and thats why you shouldnt focus too greatly on ultimate balance. its not like its impossible, but you'd come out with the same map over and over again. This is something joel doesnt understand and shows in many of his maps :o No disrespect to Joel but he is forgetting that.

I'm sure the korean mappers for Hitchhiker or Arkinoid etc was looking for gameplay > balance when finalizing it. No doubt did they accomodate for standard balance but creating a new atmosphere for players is what the best approach is for new maps (which is ultimately *new* gameplay). If you go for balance in every approach and aspect for maps then you will get the same map again and again and again.

maybe i should reword gameplay as "innovative gameplay"

what panschk tries to say is that a map with (adopted) statistices of 45%-55% in each MU but new innovative style and good flow is better than a perfectly balanced map which doesnt offer anything strategical (i.e. luna).
