So because it is most likely that sc2 will be announced soon... How you think will it affect this site? Add support for creating SC2-Maps? Change the domain name? - Of course assuming that sc2 will be worthy to get maps from BWMN map makers :)
I don't know what would happen. I don't think panschk alone can make the change(s). He was talking about a need to delete maps here to leave up room, that's with scm/scxs and pictures, not new map which would likely be larger in size, and there might be a huge influx of new maps made with the new game, I am confident we would atleast need a new site/database, annex another part of the internet and attach it to this site or something =/
Honestly remaking bwm as sc2m.net would be better imo.
It will be years until SC2 comes out, even if they were to announce it soon. These are only rumors, anyways.
Consider Blizzard's most recent actions regarding SC: The upcoming patch, the started support for community ladders. They wouldn't do all that if SC2 came out soon...
REname bwm.to sc2m.net? so ur just gona abandon sc? have u seen how SLOW the movement is for sc2? and how the graphics look like clay? lol... well its a fact it will never play like SC unless the just make it SC with 2 new races... hmmm? y cant they just patch in new races lolz.... well idk about programming so i dont know if thats possible... but i think im gona stay on SC...FOrever O.o;;
They won't patch a new race into SC or anything like that because they will make almost no profit that way. Addon is the same.
As far as I know, most of the people that were involved in SCBW/D1/2/WC1/2, all of the older games, have left Blizzard by now. Blizzard's decisions are much more focused on the monetary aspect rather than the needs of the gamers nowadays. So I wouldn't be surprised if their following releases will be like WoW (pay to play) in some way.
Because of that it will also be quite unlikely that an SC2 will be as good as SCBW, simply because it will be newb-friendly. The gamers they are aiming at are 12-16 years old (I guess), and they want to sell many copies; if the game is too hard to master, it will be sold less.
Well, these are my thoughts. I can't prove anything :p
More than it needs to sell, more than they need to keep their old games going while they make new ones, more than they know how angry and abandoned the SC community is feeling:
If they screw up, not even WoW will save them from the SC community outcry.
They have to make a good new game, not only that but it has to be as good or better than one of the longest running RTSs thats still going.
They need to carry over the current SC players and get more, and to do that, they cannot release anything other than pure perfection.
And that is why they are going to take their sweet time. They cant afford not to. modified by Excalibur
