Kinda a misleading topic title, but I figure it would get read more than if I called it "Let's play melee in team melee." Ok this might be a really dumb, pointless idea but... I was thinking this morning about some way to make a UMS game that let you play normal melee, but with more supply, and I kept coming back to two players playing the same person (which has been done in UMS many times over in games like Macro/Micro and builders & fighters (not a great game, Macro/Micro is kinda cool though). But then I rememberd team melee, which I've played maybe 4 times in my life . On a four player map you get 400 supply, which is probobly the most you would ever need (600 on a 3 player and 800 on a two player is way over the top, but still dosen't hurt...). And I am not talking about playing team melee with the intended multiple people on a team, I'm talking about doing regular melee, with each person on their own team, but just to get the extra supply. This makes late-game not about all attacking anymore, and about keeping up your macro in your base, while manageing your hundred man army.
Maybe this is a stupid idea, and anything over 200 is way too much supply and unneeded, and just causes late-game games to last longer, I'm pretty sure that the supply limit has nothing to do with any kind of balance (maybe if there is 400 supply some things might get overpowered in that much masse). Or maybe it's just pointless, and the extra supply won't add any type of skill to the game, you just have to keep massing the same unit. Although it seems to me at first that it adds some changes to lategame, causing you to have to find room for your extra pylons and supply depots, and zerg will probobly have ot make more hatcherys to keep making units while making ovies. Also it makes lategame expansions more usefull then they are now (which now they are kinda worthless in my opionion, but I still do em anyways). I am kinda doubtufll that this will work though, cause it seems as long as sc has been around I couldne't have been the first person to think about this.
And again, I am just a newb (getting better though ) so this might be a completely stupid idea (I used to play alot, and was pretty good, but I quit for years and just got bakc into the game).
Oh and if you have to have 2 people on a team to get the addedd supply (Which I'm pretty sure you don't, but am not at home right now so I can't get on sc to test it), then there was a program a long time ago that would fill up slots in the game and trick sc into thinking other people where in it (this was used for people who wanted 1v1 comp games to go on their record, I used it just to try it out, but it was only a day or so so I don't remember any of the detials, like the name, or how it worked, or how it looked when it filled the slots, so that could be used in team melee to get the extra (if when you have only one person on a team you only get 200 supply).

you get multiple supply only if you are the same race
on a 4 player map, if you set both things on your team to terran then you get 400 supply, if you set 1 to terran and one to protoss then you get 200 terran, 200 protoss. with a 2 player map you get 800 if all 4 are the asme race, and so on, and so on...
and having two races or three races would be just kinda anoying...but one race seems ok with 400-800 supply, although 800 would be wayyyy unnecesary. modified by Nyzse
@Nastymarine, if you play a 1v1 on team melee, on lost temple, the max supply limit is no longer 200, it is 400, if you play on a 1v1 map, it is 800... So why don't people do 1v1s on team melee, cuase the max supply limit can get anoying on long games where it is kinda stale and there isn't much to do.
nah it only gets boring if ur losing.. if u got good macro skillz u dont notice it. battles are bigger than u think if u got a good macro count. its really not necassary to play team melee. its fun but i dont think itll come too much into sc fashion
Yea, but late-game expo is very unenteresting, and I think if you had more supply then there is more concentration on the expo's besides your nats and the extra ones you happen to get, but there is never any huge fighting/back and forth over expo's and some games like that would be fun, esspecialy maps that have a big center expansion that is meant for players to fight over.

zerg can just mass as hell without having to rely on much micro. toss on the other side, will be more or less overstrained at a certain point because you have to storm about 20 times per battle :o
play people your same skill level...you will never find yourself maxed i dont think... i barely ever get over 2k cash. and that is really really really really late game. if you want lots of supply and big battles play mass games lol
the reason i prefer starcraft is the micro involved in it. mass battles suck balls.
Maybe it's just at my skill level then (I'm still a bit newb =P) that maxing happens so often and it usualy comes to a standstill where we both have our sides, and are gaining alot of minerals so expos mean practicly nothing. Although I have seen a few pro games where they have maxxed haven't really payed close attention to what happens to late game expos, and what to do with lategame minerals, probobly should.
